There are plenty of flowers and chocolate to go around this time of year, but a lot of people tend to forget another romantic component: music (for various festivities). Here is just a handful of the songs on the playlist.

#### BAND OF HORSES – “No One’s Gonna Love You”

The title may suggest dreary and depressing lyrics, but they’re far from negative. This song is an uplifting track about how powerful love can be. It’s backed with a beautiful orchestration of guitars swooning with reverb and delay, soft melodies and subtle drums.

#### YEAH YEAH YEAHS – “Maps”

This is probably the quintessential indie-rock love song, and for various reasons. Vocalist Karen O’s gentle vocals demonstrate an unwavering love for her subject. The guitars are initially quiet, until they burst with loud drums through the chorus. Also, you can never get enough of one of the most familiar drum intros in indie rock.

#### ARCTIC MONKEYS – “I Wanna Be Yours”

The closing track on Arctic Monkeys’ 2013 release, _AM_, is easily one of the highlights of the album. Vocalist Alex Turner shifts to a lower range of notes for this song in particular, backed up with higher harmonies an octave up. There’s surely a late-night atmosphere throughout this song, which adds to the romantic element of it.

#### THE CURE – “Lovesong”

Similar to “Maps,” “Lovesong” by The Cure is not only a classic alternative song, but a classic love song. Oddly enough, this track is from one of its darkest albums, _Disintegration_. The Cure set the stage for alternative love songs with this track, and since it was released, fans have looked back and continue to regard it as a classic in the band’s discography.

#### JACK GARRATT – “My House Is Your Home”

Most of Jack Garratt’s debut album, _Phase_, is heavily layered and full of synthesizers and MIDI drums. It takes an unexpected turn at the end with this raw, soulful, piano-driven track. The beauty of it lies in its organic nature. It sounds like Garratt simply recorded himself and put it on the record without feeling the need to mix it or add anything — a wise choice.
