Missouri women’s basketball senior Jordan Frericks has torn her right ACL, according to a statement from head coach Robin Pingeton. Frericks earned all-Southeastern Conference honors the past two seasons as a forward on the women’s basketball team.
Frericks, who was injured in a preseason workout, will not play for the entire 2016-17 season after undergoing surgery, according to the statement.
“Jordan is an incredible leader and a fierce competitor and as she begins her rehab and recovery, our program will persevere together as a family and support her along the way,” Pingeton said in the statement. “We know she will bounce back in the face of adversity and that she’ll return from the injury stronger, on and off the court. I have no doubt she’ll continue to be an important leader for our team this season and beyond.”
The loss of Frericks will hurt the Tigers. She averaged 12.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game last season. She was the team’s leading rebounder.
Frericks intends to redshirt and will be eligible for the 2017-18 season, according to the statement.
