Missouri women’s golf team finished sixth at this weekend’s Lady Paladin Invitational, hosted by Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. The Tigers shot +17 overall for the tournament.
Twenty schools competed in the tournament, notably Southeastern Conference competitors Tennessee and Ole Miss. Mizzou started Clara Young, Jessica Yuen, Cayce Hendrickson, Jess Meek, Emma Allen and Marit Harryvan.
Texas would emerge victorious at -11, rallying ahead of Furman, who held the lead through two rounds. Furman would finish second at -9, followed by Illinois in third at -2, Augusta in fourth at +2 and Middle Tennessee in fifth at +6.
Texas’ Emilee Hoffman was the individual champion of the tournament, shooting -6 for the weekend. She impressed with an opening-round 65, the low round of the entire tournament.
As for Mizzou, Allen came out firing and led the way for the Tigers, shooting an opening round 69. The Southampton, England, native followed up that performance with a bit of a struggle, totalling second round 75. She shot a respectful 72 on the final day, finishing even par for the tournament, tied for 12th.
Other notables were Jess Yuen, who finished tied for 24th at +2. Jess Meek would finish tied for 34th at +5. Clara Young would finished tied for 70th at +15. Marit Harryvan and Cayce Hendrickson finished tied for 74th at +16.
Notable stats for the Tigers included 181 pars on the weekend, which was good for second in the tournament. Mizzou also put up a respectable par 4 scoring average at 4.19.
Next up for the Tigers is the Johnnie Imes Invitational at the Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia. The tournament takes place Oct. 3-4 and will be the lone time that the Tigers play in Columbia this season.
