Taking the court for the first time in over a month, Isiaih Mosely played for 19 minutes, 14 of which were in the first half of Missouri’s game against the Razorbacks. This increased playtime is a sign that there may be more to come.
For the first time since the Dec. 17 matchup against Central Florida, senior guard Isiaih Mosley played meaningful minutes for the Tigers.
The highly-touted transfer from Missouri State had been in and out of the lineup for most of the season due to what head coach Dennis Gates called “personal matters.”
At the 16:35 minute mark in the first half of Missouri’s Jan. 18 victory over Arkansas, Mizzou Arena erupted when Mosley checked into the game. Mosley missed two 3s during his time on the floor and was subbed out with 10:11 left in the half. However, unlike previous games with spotty and inconsistent play, he was subbed back in just over a minute later.
Mosley missed another shot from behind-the-arc before finding freshman forward Aidan Shaw in the corner for a wide-open shot. This assist seemed to get the offense going for Mosley, who scored for the first time since the Nov. 26 game against Houston Christian, with 5:06 left in the half. Mosley finished the period with 8 points, two layups and four free throws, tying with senior forward Kobe Brown’s 8 for the team lead entering the break.
Despite the solid start, Mosely only played for another five minutes in the second half. Regardless, with Mosely’s contribution, the Tigers stole a close win late in the game and earned a fourth conference win.
Currently, Mosley is averaging 7.9 points while playing just 17 minutes per game. A consistently healthy and contributing Mosley might be exactly what the Tigers need to finish conference play strong, bringing the offense to another level with the talented guard regularly on the court.
