Each spring semester, MU’s undergraduate student government, the Missouri Students Association, holds an election to select the organization’s president and vice president.
This year, two slates are running in the election: Reimagine Mizzou run by presidential candidate Zeb Howell and vice-presidential candidate Taylor McMahan, and Mizzou4U run by presidential candidate Miyah Jones and vice-presidential candidate Cydney Perkins. For them, this is an opportunity to make positive change at MU.
Candidates have been formulating their campaigns to be strategic about campus needs.
“We’re just looking at what Mizzou is good at, and what we can improve on as a whole,” Howell said.
“There’s a lot of resources that MSA has as a collective that we would love to share with the rest of the Mizzou community,” Jones said.
Between Reimagine Mizzou and Mizzou4U, there are different visions for the future of MU. “Reimagine Mizzou” aims to focus on reimagining their relationships, their community and their governance.
Mizzou4U has objectives in its campaign platform to circulate knowledge, establish culture and allocate resources. Both slates have been working to promote their campaigns across campus with tabling at Speakers Circle, presentations with campus organizations and fundraising efforts.
The MSA debate was held on March 6 in Middlebush Auditorium in Middlebush Hall. All students are welcome to attend, and elections will take place March 7-9.
