The team placed three athletes in the top 10, including a second-place finish from senior Roberto Vilches.
Missouri’s track and field team earned multiple personal-best and four top-10 finishes on its trip to the SEC Indoor Championship in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Feb. 24-25.
Thirty-nine athletes made the trip down South, headlined by Roberto Vilches, a senior high-jumper from Mexico City. Vilches was the lone jumper to finish in the top 10 for the Tigers, finishing second in the event at 2.21 meters, which marks the eighth-highest jump in the NCAA this year. He will be back in action at the NCAA Indoor Championship March 10-11.
Three women also finished inside the top-10. Sydney Oberdiek placed seventh in the weight throw with a distance of 20.93 meters — third in school history. Isabella Sokolova placed eighth overall in the long jump with a bound of 6.02 meters, the eighth best in school history. Claudina Diaz notched her season best, fourth place performance in the high jump clearing 1.8 meters.
While these athletes placed top-10 for Missouri, the men’s distance relay team also placed ninth with a time of 9:48.98, while the women’s distance relay team finished seventh at 11:22.70.
