Artist Statement: These three poems were written for people I’ve loved and lost. Whether it’s familial or romantic, those we love help shape us into who we are. Losing these individuals may feel like losing a part of yourself, but these losses allow us to grow, heal and continue to love unapologetically.

Dorothy’s amethyst
The jewelry of the buriedGlimmers on living fingersStill in the good graces of timeSpry and unaware of what lies belowOnly here and now is knownThe past containedSilently stirring in heirloom gemstones.
Unrequited
Bound by a contract of the heartI remain tied to youHip to hip with the empty spaceNext to me in bedHolding a place for you.
Patient in the silenceMind elsewhereEyes closed.
I hold my gazeWith the inside of my eyelidsAnd they show me who i want to seeWho I would share my space with.
Definition of insanity
With wounds unhealedAnd a heart still bleedingI try again.
Looking forward towardThe unwritten futureI beg my hindsightTo fade out of focus.
