Memorial Union

Ellis Library
Designed in 1913, the construction of Ellis Library was led by architectural consultants Jamieson and Spearl. The library was completed in 1915 and has since grown with various additions. Bearing the name of former MU President Elmer Ellis (1954-1963), the library continues to serve as a favorite study spot for students on campus. Sociology Building

Switzler Hall
Originally constructed in 1871, Switzler Hall is the oldest classroom building found on MU’s campus. According to the University Archives, “It was a longstanding campus gag to steal the Switzler Bell’s clapper, so that the signal for classes to start would not be sounded.” (Courtesy of University Archives, University of Missouri)

Conley House
The Conley House was designed for the original owner, Stanford F. Conley, in 1869. It is rumored to be haunted by the ghost of Aunt Sally Conley. Conley descendants claim Aunt Sally is buried in the fireplace of the house. (Courtesy of University Archives, University of Missouri)
