The Missouri Students Association and Associated Students of the University of Missouri hosted various events throughout the week encouraging students to register to vote.

Students sign their names on a canvas committing to the four shared values of MU. The four values serve as the foundation for MU’s community, which seeks to unite everyone together and hold the university to a high standard.
Missouri Students Association hosts Constitution Day on Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, at the Student Center. Students could register to vote, get a copy of the U.S. Constitution and receive a free cupcake.
Senior Nathanael Eichman registers to vote in Boone County. He was previously registered to vote in Callaway County, Mo. “Your choice shows even if it doesn’t change the will of the people,” Eichman said. “Callaway County tends to lean more towards Republican, but I voted Democrat, so you can see that shift even if it doesn’t affect the outcome.”
A sign alerts students of Associated Students of the University of Missouri National Voter Registration Day activities. Students could get free cookies at Speakers Circle and pet adoptable puppies at the Francis Quadrangle. Booths were set up at all locations for students to register to vote.
Freshmen Melissa Tran and Lily Kleinhenz register to vote. Tran decided to register because it was a very convenient spot and an easy process.“It’s so important for young people to care about local elections, even in a time where it seems like there’s low political efficacy,” Tran said.
Puppies Float and Brewski helps attract students to register to vote on the Quad. The adoptable puppies are from Unchained Melodies Dog Rescue, based in Columbia, and are all from the Big Muddy Litter.
