A bright spot at the end of the season comes courtesy of Simmons, earning All-SEC honors for the first time in her career.
Missouri soccer sophomore forward Kylee Simmons was named First Team All-SEC on Sunday, Oct. 29.
Simmons led the conference in total goals with 11 during the 2023 season. This included a stretch of five games from Sept. 7-24, in which she scored a total of six goals in five games. Additionally, Simmons led the conference in points with a total of 24. Twenty-two of those points came courtesy of goals, as they count for two points.
Simmons was efficient with her scoring opportunities this season, with 29 of her 46 shot attempts going on net. Simmons ranked 18th in the country in shot accuracy at .630.
Simmons was one of only four Tigers to start all 17 matches alongside junior Milena Fischer, senior Grace Pettet and senior Leah Selm. The sophomore forward played in 1,296 minutes, also ranking fourth on the team.
Simmons was the only Tiger selected for an SEC award this season. Last year, only one Tiger made the cut, with then-junior defenseman Pettet making the All-SEC Second Team.
This marks the first time Simmons has made the end-of-season SEC awards list, making a splash as one of only four forwards selected to the 2023 first team.
