Crochet Club aims to create a safe environment for artists
Crochet Club, started by co-founder seniors Abby Dickinson and Elviira Junnila, aims to create a safe environment where crocheters of all skill levels are welcome. The club meets every Tuesday 6-8 p.m. in Memorial Union S207 to share their knowledge, learn and work on projects together.

Members of Crochet Club work on projects while waiting for the 1998 film “Mulan” to play. The club is “accepting of [people of] all walks of Earth,” said Abby Dickinson.
Students work on their latest crochet projects by making scarves, granny squares and practicing chains. The club meets every Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. to teach and learn crocheting.
A scarf made by junior Erica Doane sits in her bag at the meeting for the Crochet Club. Doane had just finished the scarf and was starting on a new multi-colored project.
Junior Laela Jackson makes a matching crochet top for her friend to wear to Homecoming. Jackson taught herself from watching YouTube videos and patterns she bought online.
