Local yoga instructor joins cat cafe in organizing a yoga session performed alongside coffee and 11 cats
Fifteen people gathered at Bertha’s Beans Cat Cafe on Monday, Feb. 26, to enjoy kitty cuddles while practicing yoga exercises and drinking a variety of drinks like matcha, lemonade and coffee. All but two of the resident cats are adoptable and the yoga session was meant to help encourage customers to adopt.

Peter is a domestic shorthair mix and is a little over one and a half years old.Senior Iris Castellanos reaches out to pet domestic shorthair Mr. Lazy. Castellanos came to the yoga class because she thought it would be a fun activity to do with her friends on a Monday.Yoga instructor Amber Blumberg leads the class in a half lotus pose with raised hands. Blumberg has been a certified yoga instructor for almost a year now, but this was her first cat yoga class. Mary Embree leans back to pet Mr. Lazy while performing a seated twist. This is Embree’s first time at Bertha’s Beans, however she has been to a cat yoga session before back when Bertha’s Beans was Papa’s Cat Café. Rolling around in catnip, Mr. Lazy gazes up at a yogi. Mr. Lazy is a 9-month-old domestic shorthair who currently lives at Bertha’s Beans and is available for adoption.Larceny, who is 9 months old, plays with a string toy pulled by Eric Blumberg, husband of yoga instructor Amber Blumberg. Larceny is a domestic shorthair mix who is described by Columbia Second Chance as a sweet, playful young man. Graduate student Beth Wisbey reaches out to pet Mr. Lazy during a downward dog pose. Wisbey is a friend of yoga instructor Amber Blumberg and said she was excited to spend her evening alongside her favorite animals.
