Reality Bites hosted at the Missouri Theatre offered food and drink samples from local businesses
On March 1, True/False Film Fest hosted Reality Bites at the Missouri Theater. The event hosted both an outdoor and indoor area where fest-goers could sample local food and drink. Volunteers worked to provide the food with friendly faces and attendees were able to taste everything from milk tea to samples of pizza.
Attendees Brooke Stele and Emily Gray enjoy quality food and quality time together on Friday, March 1 during the Reality Bites event at the Missouri Theatre in Columbia, Mo. “My favorite thing I have tried so far is the pizza from Pizza Tree,” Gray said. “I like that filmmakers can come together and it’s like our own little community. We can share interests and also just have fun.” There were plenty of sweet treats available for patrons to snack on. Peach cobbler cupcakes supplied by Columbia Area Career Center Culinary Arts were one of the featured delicacies.Attendee Sylvia Jauregu wasn’t just enjoying the food, but was excited to meet others who share her love of film. “Honestly I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life who have a love for documentaries,” Jauregu said. “It’s great to have camaraderie with other people who enjoy it as much.” Volunteer Courtney Clauss and another volunteer served wine provided by Les Bourgeois Vineyards. “At Reality Bites you see people from all different walks of life,” Clauss said. “I think it’s really cool for people to come together over an interest in one common thing.” Many businesses sponsored the event and provided samples. Bubble Cup Tea Zone, a local bubble tea shop supplied drinks for patrons to sip on such as taro milk tea and peach oolong tea. Joe and Kerry Goyett attended the event to get a taste of what Columbia has to offer. “My favorite thing has been the wine,” Goyett said.
