The standout point guard leaves the Tigers after leading the squad in both steals and assists
Senior guard Mama Dembele is leaving MU and entering the transfer portal. She is transferring for graduate school with one year of eligibility remaining. There have been no updates on the team she intends to join.
Dembele played 110 games as a Tiger, starting in 106 games. The Spanish senior is coming off a career-best season averaging 10.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 3.3 steals per game throughout the 2023-2024 season.
These achievements earned Dembele a spot on the SEC All-Defensive team.
Dembele is the only player to transfer from Missouri thus far. Last season, Missouri lost four players in the transfer portal, all to other “Power Six” programs. By contrast, the Tigers brought in only three players last season.
Between returning players and incoming freshmen, Missouri women’s basketball is projected to have 11 players on the current 2024-2025 roster.
Potential point guard replacements for Dembele include graduate De’Myla Brown, sophomore Averi Kroenke and incoming freshman Ma’Riya Vincent.
