Missouri track and field has a great showing at their first meet of the season, the Vanderbilt Invitational
The Missouri track and field teams got their season off to a great start at the Vanderbilt Invitational on Jan.19 and 20.
On day one of the invitational, 14 Tigers finished in the top-6 in their own respective events with sophomore Petra Gombas and sophomore Johnny Martin leading the way. Gombas placed first in the women’s weight throw event and Martin placed second in the men’s 1,000 meter run.
On the second day, there were six more top-6 finishes for the Tigers, spearheaded by senior Olivia Offenheiser’s first place finish in the women’s shot put event.
Other standouts included Freshman Sterling Scott, who already put his name among the best men’s triple jumpers in Missouri history. He turned in the No. 10 best Missouri triple jump ever to place 4th in the event.
