Missouri track and field performs well at their second meet of the season
Missouri track and field continued their start to the season with solid performances at the DeLoss Dodds Invitational from Feb. 2 to Feb. 3.
For this meet, the Tigers took a trip to Kansas State and their newly renovated Ahearn Fieldhouse. The Tigers faced Big 12 competition from Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, as well as Miami from the ACC.
On day one, the Tigers’ saw success with seven top five finishes. Senior Alicia Burnett earned two second place finishes in the women’s 60 meters with two personal bests on both tries. Other standouts include junior Nicole Louw placing second in the women’s 1000 meters with junior Anneken Viljoen finishing right behind her.
On day two, the Tigers started to turn things up with 14 top five finishes, seven of which were in the top three. This surge was led by freshman Sterling Scott, who placed first in the men’s triple jump. He earned a personal best of 15.72 meters and placed No. 6 on Missouri’s Indoor All-Time Top 10 List. On the field side, junior Rece Rowan placed first in the men’s shot put and also set a personal record.
Other standouts include graduate Eddie Zuercher who set his personal best for the men’s mile, placing second in the process. Junior McKenna Revord also set her personal best for the women’s mile to place third. Junior Claudina Diaz placed third for the women’s high jump and junior Skylar Coffey finished third for the men’s shot put, setting a personal record.
