Missouri football gains needed depth with linebacker in the transfer portal
Linebacker Khalil Jacobs transferred to play for Missouri football on Wednesday, May 22. Jacobs is the 15th player to transfer to the Tigers since the portal opened in the spring. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Jacobs is departing from South Alabama where he played two seasons with the Jaguars. Last season he had 25 solo tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles. In addition to his work as a tackler, Jacobs affected the pass game with one interception and a pass deflection.
These accolades earned Jacobs a lot of attention when he entered the transfer portal. He chose Missouri over schools like Alabama, Auburn and Ole Miss.
Jacobs’ commitment to the Tigers marks their ninth defensive addition this offseason. He is joining fellow transfer linebackers Corey Flagg, Brady Hultman and Jeremiah Beasley.
Earlier this year, Missouri football head coach Eliah Drinkwitz announced that Corey Batoon would be joining the Tigers as the team’s new defensive coordinator. Batoon spent the previous three years at South Alabama working alongside Jacobs for two seasons. The two will work together next season to help replace five starters who were a part of the NFL draft last season.
