Missouri’s track and field team sent four athletes to the NCAA Championships in Oregon during June
The 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships for track and field took place from June 5-8 in Eugene, Oregon. Four athletes from the University of Missouri qualified to compete.
Three field athletes qualified for the championship finals in the discus, javelin and triple jump.
Graduate student Mitch Weber qualified for the NCAA Finals for a second time after finishing No. 5 in round one of the men’s discus. During the finals, Weber threw a season best 60.85 meters to finish No. 4 and earn First Team All-American Honors.
Graduate student Skylar Ciccolini had a qualifying throw of 51.35 meters in round one of the Championships in javelin. In her third finals appearance of her college career, Ciccolini threw a season-best 55.06 meters to finish No. 6. That mark earned her a spot on the First Team All-American list.
Freshman Sterling Scott entered the finals coming off of a personal best triple jump distance of 15.77 meters. He capped off his season with another personal best jump of 15.80 meters, claiming No. 14 in the country and Second Team All-American Honors.
The Tigers had one runner make the trip to Oregon. Junior Kelsey Schweizer qualified for the championships by running a personal best time of 2:03.84 in the women’s 800m. On June 6, Schweizer ran a new personal best of 2:02.39 seconds to place No. 15 in the preliminaries. This was not enough to qualify for the finals on June 8, but the time set a new school record and qualified the junior for a spot on the Second Team All-American list.
While this marked the final meet for Weber and Ciccolini, Scott and Schweizer will likely both return next season to best their marks from this go around.
