Rahel Broemmel and Ryder James led the way for both Tiger teams
Missouri Cross Country kicked off their second meet of the season, with both teams scoring in the top 10 at the Spiked Shoe Invitational on Friday, Sept. 13.
The Tigers competed in their first 6,000 and 8,000-meter races of the season, running against sixteen different schools. In the mix of different teams, the men finished third in the overall standings and the women in seventh.
Ryder James was the top racer for the men, placing No.18 overall with a time of 25:31.2. Close behind was Drew Rogers, who finished No.22, with Blake Morris right behind finishing at No. 24. Freshman Jamie Mora was further down for the Tigers, finishing No. 37 overall with a time of 25:51.9 seconds. Joshua Allison was the fifth runner for the Tigers, crossing the line with a time of 25:59.1 seconds and finishing No.48.
Arkansas State transfer Rahel Broemmel was the top finisher for the women, placing No. 21 overall with a time of 21:01.8 minutes. Nicole Louw was next up, finishing No. 38, with freshman Charlotte Cullen close behind, finishing No. 43 with a time of 21:27.7.
Allison Newman was next for the Tigers, finishing No. 54 overall with a time of 21:41.2. Anneken Viljoen was the fifth and final finisher, with a time of 21:54.1, finishing at No. 64.
Syracuse won this invitational for the men, who finished with 31 points in the 8,000-meter race. Penn State won for the women, with 42 points in the 6,000-meter race. Syracuse also managed to get second place for the women with 62 points for the 6,000-meter race. Georgetown ended up placing second for the men, with 70 points.
The Tigers remain at home for their next meet at the Gans Creek Invitational on Sept. 27.
