Fleur van Beek and Ffion Tynan crack the top five in the podium finish
Despite weather issues, Missouri Women’s Golf secured a second-place finish behind Florida Gulf Coast at the 16th Johnie Imes Invitational.
Day one of the invitational was postponed until noon due to rain issues, complicating playtime. This moved the invitational from 54 holes total to 36 in two days.
The Tigers climbed from fourth place on day one up to second after playing on day two.
Fleur van Beek finished second individually, securing her second straight top-10 finish and third of her career, scoring 143 with five birdies to finish with a -1.
Ffion Tynan finished No. 5 overall with a score of 146 after climbing 15 spots in the final 18 holes: this marked Tynan’s first top-5 and second top-10 finish of her career. On the second day, she improved her score after finishing with a -1, tied for third-highest performance of the day.
Melanie Walker placed No. 27 overall with a score of 151 finishing with a +7. She had a stellar first day with a +1 score.
Addie Dobson and Alexandra Berglund, both finished with a +8. Dobson competed individually, finishing No. 31 in the event. Berglund’s score was official, finishing No. 32.

Also hitting individually, Irene Garcia Sanchez scored a +17, landing her at No. 61
Rounding out the top five behind the Tigers were Illinois State, Bradley, and Missouri State respectively.
The Johnie Imes Invitational honors the late Johnie Imes, a devoted supporter of the Missouri women’s golf team. After her passing in 2011, her daughter, Pam Adkison, comes from Arkansas every year to watch the tournament and cheer on the golfers.
Next for the Tigers is the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Monday, Sept. 30, in Fayetteville, Ark.
