The Tigers have five home series for the upcoming season
Missouri Baseball’s SEC schedule has been officially announced. After a disappointing previous season, the Tigers have their work cut out for them in a newly-structured Southeastern Conference. The Tigers have 10 three-game series throughout the year with five at home and five on the road.
The Tigers open the season on the road against LSU, who finished conference play last year with a 13-17 record. That being said, they are ranked No. 1 on Baseball America’s top 25. They head back home against Ole Miss, who went 11-19 last season.
The third opponent on the schedule is one of the two newest members of the SEC, Texas, who went 36-24 overall and 20-10 in Big 12 conference play. The Longhorns parted ways with head coach David Pierce and signed head coach Jim Schlossnagle from Texas A&M. The Longhorns are ranked at No. 19 on Baseball America’s top 25.
After two more weekends on the road, the Tigers come back to Taylor Stadium to play the Oklahoma Sooners, the other new conference member. The Sooners put together an even better 2024 campaign than Texas going 40-21 overall and 21-12 in Big 12 conference play. Oklahoma closed the season among the top 25 rankings at No. 18, but they did lose a lot of talent and will need to find new leadership in the dugout.
Following the series against the Sooners, the Tigers go on the road to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama. While they did finish the year with a better record than the Tigers, Alabama struggled, only going 13-17 in conference play. The Crimson Tide do have standout returners like Justin Lebron, but they lost a lot of talent with six players going off to the MLB and four others graduating.
This leaves Alabama as a team that Missouri could see a lot of success against and an important midseason opponent. After a three game home stand against the Georgia Bulldogs, the Tigers turn around and head to Texas A&M, who were the National Championship runner up in 2024.
After Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle left to go to the Longhorns, the Aggies saw a lot of valuable players join the transfer portal. Luckily, new head coach Michael Early was able to bring them all back. The Aggies were ranked No. 5 in Baseball America’s top 25 and will be a very tough opponent for Missouri on the road. Missouri closes the year at home against Mississippi State, who is among the schools in Baseball America’s top 25, ranked No. 19.
With impressive new additions to the roster and hope amongst the coaching staff in head coach Kerrick Jackson’s second season, the Tigers hope to turn the tides after a disappointing last place SEC finish in 2024.
