Virgillo Paz finished as the Tigers’ top finisher
The Missouri Tigers teed off in the Williams Cup this week, a 54-hole event hosted by the University of North Carolina. The Tigers capped off the event 10th out of 13 participating teams, with a collective score of 27-over-par.
The low scorer of the event for the Tigers was Virgilio Paz, who posted a score of 6-over-par for the tournament, tied for 35th place. After a first round 76, Paz finished the tournament strong with back-to-back rounds of 1-over-73s.
Tied with Paz for the tournament was Dagbjartur Sigurbrandsson, who finished the event T-35 at 6-over-par. Sigurbandsson was steady throughout the tournament, posting rounds of 73, 75 and 74.
Tailing right behind was Mattias Varjun, who posted a score of 7-over-par, landing him at T-41 for the event. Varjun carded three birdies en route to a final round 74 sitting at 2-over par. In his first round 74, Varjun caught fire on the back nine with a 2-under 34.
Veikka Viskari closed the event on a high, as his final round 74 was highlighted by a 1-under 35 on the front nine. Viskari finished the event tied 48, with a score of 9-over-par.
Paz, Sigurbrandsson, Varjun and Viskari all contributed to the Tigers’ tournament score of 27-over-par.
The final Tiger to participate in the event was Brock Synder, who ended the event T-64, with a score of 14-over-par. Synder carded his top score in the final round of the tournament with a score of 73. This came after rounds of 77 and 80 to start the form. Synder regained form in his last 18, as a 1-under 35 on the front nine led him to his formidable round.
This was one of the final events of the fall season for the Missouri Tigers. They now look ahead to The Clerico, hosted by Oral Roberts University on Oct. 28-29 in Tulsa, Okla.
