
The team finished the dual 25-14 winning six of 10 matches
Missouri Wrestling officially opened its 2024-25 season with a victory in a dual meet against Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo.
The Tigers won six out of the ten matches finishing the meet with a score of 25-14.
Freshman Aeoden Sinclair opened the tournament at 197 pounds with a 19-11 victory against Franklin Cruz. Led by a pair of takedowns in the third, Sinclair gave the Tigers a 4-0 advantage.
Seth Nitzel started his season as a redshirt junior in the 285-pound weight class against Remington Peterson. He had three takedowns and won his match with a score of 11-4.
Logan Gioffre wrestled at 149 pounds, kicking off his redshirt junior year in a tight battle. Gioffre secured an overtime win against Benji Adams from UNC, winning 7-4.
Cam Steed had a quick decision, winning the 167-pound weight-class match with a first-period pin to put Missouri ahead in the dual 16-14. Steed’s match put the Tigers back in the lead after three Northern Colorado victories, including that against Tiger Josh Edmund who lost his match 12-2 by major decision to 2023 national champion Andrew Alirez.
In his first official match in his new 174-pound weight class, Keegan O’Toole finished with a 19-4 win through technical fall, stretching the Tiger lead to seven points. This stretch included nine points in the first frame for O’Toole.
Closing out the tournament Colton Hawks scored a 9-1 win in the final match at 184 pounds by major decision.
The Tigers debuted four new wrestlers while securing their fifth consecutive victory in season openers since 2019.
This weekend, the team will be in Kansas City for the Tiger Style Invite on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Stanley High School.
