Drew Rogers with his personal best and Rahel Broemmel finish first once again for the Tigers
Missouri cross country competed in their last meet of the season against other Midwest contenders at the NCAA DI Midwest Regional Championships in Peoria, Ill. The men’s team placed No. 9 overall for the Tigers, while the women’s team finished No. 11. Both teams had multiple standouts. Two players from the men’s team received their personal best times during the meet.
Drew Rogers placed first for the Tigers again, placing in the Top 20 in the meet. Rogers also had past top placements in the SEC Championships and the Crimson Classic. During the race, he set a 10k personal record by finishing with a time of 29:45.2 and placed No. 16. He finished at a faster pace in the fourth kilometer stretch, marking the third time Rogers has led the team to the finish line.
Ryder James set his new 10k personal record with a finishing time of 30:15.7 while placing No. 31. Following behind him were Declan Tunney and Joshua Allison, who finished together at No. 66 and No. 67 respectively. The final team finisher was Tyler Freiner, placing No. 86 with a time of 31:05.8.
Rahel Broemmel led the way among the women’s team placing in the Top 30 overall compared to the rest of the athletes. Broemmel placed No. 28 in the women’s 6k race with a time of 20:35.4, aided by a faster pace in her fourth kilometer. Broemmel continues to lead the Tigers in placement for the six meets she has competed in this season.
The next finishers were Nicole Louw who finished No. 45 with a time of 20:49.4, and Allison Newman at No. 69 with a time of 21:11.8. Charlotte Cullen rounded out the group No. 84 overall with a time of 21:21.7.
Overall, the men concluded with 260 points while the women finished with 316.
The Tigers’ season has come to a close and they did not receive an at-large bid to compete at the NCAA Championships at the Zimmer Championship Course.
