Sophomore outfielder Brady Picarelli led the way with a 5-for-5 performance

Missouri baseball won its home opener at Taylor Stadium in football-scoring fashion, defeating Lindenwood 14-10.
It started rough for the Tigers, as Lindenwood opened up the first inning with a 4-0 lead. The early Missouri deficit was largely due to the three walks given up by freshman starter Victor Christal. Christal recorded just one out in the inning before being pulled for senior Kaden Jacobi. Graduate student James Vaughn was eventually credited with the win, pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings.
The Tigers joined the party in the second inning thanks to a two-run home run by freshman right fielder Brady Picarelli. Picarelli had a big day, leading the squad in hits going 5 for 5 with two home runs and 6 RBIs.

Lindenwood tied the ball game up in the top half of the sixth, but Missouri’s Mateo Serna hit a sacrifice fly that scored Peyton Basler, giving the Tigers a 7-6 lead.
Kicking off the seventh inning, Missouri had its highest-scoring inning of the night. A five-run avalanche broke the game open thanks to a big-time RBI single by left fielder Benson, who finished 4-for-5 on the night.

The Tigers hosted Evansville for a series from Feb. 28 to March 2, with a doubleheader on Saturday. The home stand continued on Tuesday, March 3, as Southeast Missouri State came to town.
