The Missouri Tigers racked up personal bests and top-10 finishes at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, South Carolina and the Battle on the Bayou in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
On day one of the Raleigh Relays Drew Rogers, Tyler Freiner and Austin Popplewell ran the three fastest times in school history in the 10,000-meter event. Rogers ran a 28:14.27 in the 10,000-meter, earning a first-place finish and personal best as well as the fastest time in school history. Freiner’s time of 29:03.18 and Popplewell’s time of 29:18.89 were the second and third fastest times in school history, respectively.
They weren’t the only Tigers who etched their names in the record books however, as Rahel Broemmel placed ninth in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 15:50.11, earning the third-best time in school history. Monica Wanjiku placed third in the 10,000 meters with a time of 32:21.97 claiming the second-best time in school history. Sam Innes placed first in the hammer throw with a throw of 68.75 meters, the second-best throw ever by a Tiger.
At the Battle on the Bayou, the Tigers won the javelin throw in both the women’s and men’s divisions. Callan Saldutto claimed first-place for the men with a throw of 51.48 meters. Valentina Barrios took home first-place for the women with a throw of 52.93 meters. T.J. Wiggins also performed strongly as he placed third in men’s discus with a throw of 54.00 meters.
Sterling Scott, who was an Indoor All-American in the triple jump, continued his success in the outdoor season, placing first by jumping 15.78 meters. Claudina Diaz and Kristi Perez-Snyman took home first and second place respectively in the women’s high jump. Diaz jumped 1.82 meters and Snyman jumped 1.79 meters.
The Tigers outdoor season continued April 4 and 5 at the Joe Walker Invite in Oxford, Mississippi.
