I carry pieces of my past selves with me every day
The scar on my knee from when I crashed my bike as a kid
My permanent retainer on my bottom teeth from third grade
I carry pieces of my present self with me every day
The tattoo on the inside of my left bicep of my parents’ handwriting
My Apple Watch that hasn’t left my wrist since I got it on my 14th birthday
I carry pieces of my future self with me every day
Every step I take brings me closer to the person I am slowly becoming
Every action connects me to everyone in an infinite causal chain
I carry pieces of the people from my past with me every day
My favorite sweater from a concert that I went to with an old friend
The photos in my camera roll dating back to 2013 of my siblings and I
I carry pieces of everyone currently in my life with me every day
The noodles and cheese my mom makes for me when I am feeling sick
My playlist that has been shaped by everyone who has spent a long car ride with me
I carry a part of everyone I will meet in the future with me every day
Knowing that I am capable of making lifelong connections because I have them now
Knowing that every action connects me to everyone in my life, past, present and future.
