With three straight losses to Alabama, Missouri softball drops to 23-29 on the season and 4-17 in SEC play.
Game 1
The Tigers’ first game against the Alabama Crimson Tide resulted in a 4-2 loss. Alabama jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with minimal response from Missouri.
That was until senior infielder Taylor Ebbs knocked a home run to left field in the second half, marking a career-best 10th of the season. Ebbs went 2-for-3 with one home run and an RBI. Sophomore infielder Madison Walker also went 2-for-3, advancing her to a four-game hitting streak.
Junior pitcher Taylor Pannell was credited with the loss, allowing four runs on four hits. The Tigers gained one more run in the seventh off a wild pitch, allowing senior catcher Julia Crenshaw to steal home. This registered her SEC-leading eighth runner caught stealing.
Game 2
The Tigers came close to a win in the second game, but ultimately lost 7-6. Once again, the Crimson Tide took an early 3-1 lead, then added three more runs in the third and fourth.
Crenshaw tied the score 6-6 with a three-run home run in the seventh, scoring senior Mya Dodge and sophomore Danielle Blackstun. She also went 2-for-3 with a career-best of two home runs and four RBIs. With this homer, she surpassed a combined home run total of 13 over her first three seasons.
Walker hit a two-run homer to right center with Crenshaw on base, advancing the Tigers to 6-3 in the sixth. This was her 18th home run of the season and sixth in SEC play. She finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a homer. This was her 12th multi-RBI game this season.
Despite the Tigers’ fight, Alabama would secure the 7-6 win in the bottom of the seventh off an error from senior shortstop Kara Daly.
Pannell took the loss, allowing one run on two hits. Sophomore pitcher Marissa McCann was on the mound for the majority of the game after taking over for junior pitcher Cierra Harrison in the third. McCann allowed one run on four hits.
Game 3
Game three ran slow until finally picking up in the fifth inning with a run from Alabama. The Crimson Tide gained one more run off a homer, capping off a low-scoring 2-0 win.
Freshman infielder Madison Uptegrove went 2-for-3 for her fifth career multi-hit game. Walker extended her hitting streak to six games and Ebbs reached base for the ninth consecutive game, hitting a single in the fourth.
McCann took the loss, allowing two earned runs on seven hits. This concluded the weekend for the Tigers with a three-game losing streak.
The Tigers will return home to face Georgia on May 1 at 6 p.m. at the Mizzou Softball Stadium.
