Missouri women’s golf teed off its season at the Sam Golden Invitational in Corinth, Texas on Monday, Sept. 8 and Tuesday, Sept. 9.
The Tigers, who placed first out of 13 teams, were led by freshman Ebba Liljeberg, who carded 20 birdies in her collegiate debut.
Liljeberg’s performance on the first day of the tournament tied the lowest round relative-to-par in NCAA history. She then recorded a bogey free 2-under par final round on the second day, with a 19-under finish to claim the individual title. Within her first 54 holes as a Tiger, Liljeberg set a program record with both her final score and overall strokes.
Meanwhile, her teammates also had strong performances, with all five Tigers placing in the top 35. Senior Melanie Walker tied for fourth at 8-under, while fellow senior Addie Dobson placed 12th at 6-under. Freshman Addie Surber tied for 25th at 4-under in her collegiate debut, and junior Fleur van Beek rounded out the lineup in 35th at 2-under.
As a team, the Tigers shot 40-under par, which marked a new program best. This victory is their first since 2022.
Up next, the team will return to familiar territory as they host the Johnie Imes Invitational Sept. 22–23 at their home course, The Club at Old Hawthorne.
