Missouri men’s golf played a great round in the Canadian Collegiate Invitational, placing third amongst the 11 teams participating. The Tigers finished the match with a collective score of 13-under-par, backed by great rounds from Veikka Viskari and Virgilio Paz.
Viskari picked up the momentum of his seventh place finish last week, playing another amazing round of golf. The junior placed 11th and shot 6-under-par, posting an average score of 70. Visakari’s best round came on the first day, where he shot 67 (5-under-par).
Paz bounced back in a major way following his performance last week. Paz shot 5-under-par over the three days, posting an average score of 70.3. The senior shot under par all three days of the match propelling him to a 12th place finish.
Trent Mierl was Missouri’s third-best performer this week, finishing in 18th place. The sophomore hung around par all week, posting scores of 70, 73 and 73, placing him at a 72 average (1-up). Mierl’s steady play has factored into the Tigers’ hot start to the 2025 season.
Freshman Reese Roberts continued solid play in his second collegiate match. Roberts sat 2-under-par after the second day, but a rough score of 75 on the third day brought his average up to 72.7. The freshman finished 2-up — good enough for 24th place.
Missouri’s fifth-best performer was junior Bradley Mulder. A brutal back nine on the first day and a rough third day defined Mulder’s week. However, a solid day two put him 6-up on the week. Mulder placed 36th overall.
Bubba Chapman was an independent performer for Missouri this week, meaning that his score didn’t count towards the team total. The sophomore had a rough match, posting a 78 average and shooting 18-up.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish finished in first, shooting a collective score of 35-under-par. First-place finisher Calen Sanderson was remarkable for the Fighting Irish, shooting 19-under-par and not recording a single bogey on day two or three. Finishing right behind him was Rutgers freshman Lucas Politano, who shot 18-under-par.
Next up for Missouri is the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville on Sept. 29.
