Missouri Tigers cross country is back in action after a month-long hiatus. The Tigers saw another successful meet, placing first in the Women’s 5K race and second in the Men’s 8K race.
The Tiger women put up 76 points with only six racers – enough for them to place first. The group was led by sophomore Charlotte Cullen, who placed third with a time of 17:51.43 seconds, and senior Allison Newman, who placed fifth with a time of 17:54.29 seconds. This made Missouri the only school to have two top five finishers in the event.
The Tiger men put up 49 points with only five runners – good enough to place second. The group also had strong performances, being one of two schools to have four top 10 finishers. This was led by sophomore Elijah Limo, who placed second with a time of 24:13.74 seconds and senior Ryder James, who placed fifth with a time of 24:27.201.
Wichita State took first place in the Men’s 8K race, as sophomore Elkana Kipruto ran the top time of 23:55.72 seconds. Wichita State also had the third-fastest time in the men’s field, with redshirt senior Adrian Diaz-Lopez, who ran a time of 24:15.86 seconds. On the women’s side, Northern Colorado’s Regina Mpigachai had the best individual time of the day with a 17:08.94 seconds.
Overall, there’s plenty to be optimistic about for the Tigers, with good performances all around without their two best statistical runners, Suzy Lecoutre and Drew Rogers. The Tigers will be racing again at the Gans Creek Classic at 8:15 a.m. on Sept. 26.
