No. 15 Mississippi State dismissed Missouri soccer on Sept. 26 with a crushing Southeastern Conference defeat, handing the Tigers their third SEC loss in a row. The Bulldogs scored three times to seal the 3-0 victory in Columbia.
The Bulldogs drew first blood five minutes in. Senior midfielder Ally Perry curled a shot in off the back post after receiving a short corner pass, giving Mississippi State an early lead.

Perry has been the standout player for the Bulldogs this year, scoring six goals this season, with five of them coming in their first four SEC games. Perry has also dished out six assists so far this season, placing her in the top three of the conference.
Mississippi State doubled its lead 25 minutes later, again from a corner. Freshman midfielder Kennedy Husbands lofted a long volley from outside the box that drifted above junior goalkeeper Kate Phillips’ outstretched hands and into the top right corner. The goal marked Husbands’ first of the season after 10 appearances.
The Bulldogs continued their dominance in the second half. After a 30-minute stalemate coming out of the break, Perry slipped junior forward Kyra Taylor a through ball in the penalty box in the 72nd minute. Taylor slotted the ball into the bottom left corner to seal the victory.
Missouri’s defense showed improvement after halftime, disrupting Mississippi State’s rhythm and creating more chances of its own.
“I thought our play in the second half was so much better,” head coach Stefanie Golan said. “We created some opportunities in the run of play … It’s not like we weren’t creating the chances that we needed to get ourselves back in the game. It was a bit unlucky.”
With the loss, the Tigers (4-6-1) stretch their SEC losing streak to three in a row. They’ll look to gain some momentum on the road against Louisiana State on Oct. 2.
