Missouri women’s golf secured a second-place finish at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational in Lawrence, Kansas, on Oct. 7.
The Tigers wrapped up play at 17-over par with a team total of 869 strokes, taking second place behind Kansas, who claimed the tournament’s title at just 3 over par.
Senior Melanie Walker had one of her best performances of the season as she finished second individually at 1 over par after carding eight birdies throughout the tournament. She closed with a two-under 69 in the final round.
Senior Addie Dobson also earned a top-10 finish, opening strong with an eagle on the par-five fourth hole in the first round. Sitting in the top 15 after day one, she closed with a steady 3 over final round to move up to eighth place at 7 over par. Junior Fleur van Beek was close behind her, finishing 8 over par, leaving her tied for 13th.
Two other Tigers also ended with top-20 finishes to round out Missouri’s strong showing. Freshman Ebba Liljeberg placed 15th at 9 over after a second round highlighted by five birdies. Sophomore Alexandra Berglund finished just one stroke back, taking 17th at 10 over.
The Jayhawks maintained the lead throughout both days to secure their second consecutive title at home, as sophomore Ebba Nordstedt set a program record with a 6 under performance to win the individual title. Claiming the final spot in the top three was California State University, Fullerton, finishing 27 over par.
The Tigers will travel to Kapolei, Hawaii, next to compete in the 2025 Rainbow Wahine Invitational from Oct. 20-22.
