MU Police Department officers arrested two suspects for their involvement in the Feb. 1 armed robbery near campus, according to an MUPD news release.
Shane Calahan, 25, and Brandt Feutz, 23, were arrested at 10:30 p.m. Monday in connection with the robbery near the intersection of Rollins Street and East Campus Drive.
MUPD Capt. Brian Weimer said the two suspects were arrested off-campus somewhere in Columbia.
Both were arrested for two counts of first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action, according to the news release. Calahan was also charged with forgery and Feutz was charged with unlawful use of a weapon.
Weimer said further details of the arrest cannot be disclosed at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
“The University Police Department would like to thank the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and the City of Columbia Police Department for their assistance with this investigation and arrest,” the news release stated.
The initial incident occurred at about 2 a.m. on Feb. 1 when an MU student was walking alone near campus. She reported two men getting out of a white vehicle, putting on masks and robbing her at gunpoint. One of the stolen credit cards was used to buy cigarettes and lottery tickets at the nearby I-70 Eagle Stop shortly afterward.
The charge of first-degree robbery is classified as a Class A felony, and Calahan’s forgery charge is a Class C felony, according to the Missouri Revised Statutes. Armed criminal action, if convicted, carries a minimum jail sentence of three years.
