With student models and the latest fashions, Belle Boutique transformed into a runway for the Her Campus fashion show Thursday.
Senior Nicole Aritzmendi is the event planner of the online magazine Her Campus, and organized the night.
“Our content is focused on fashion, health, beauty and other trends in the industry that women like to read about,” Aritzmendi said. “We really wanted to have our readers not just read about fashion and how to dress, but actually come in, have fun and see it.”
The night started with drinks compliments of Bleu Restaurant and custom cupcakes while the guests were arriving. Her Campus held auditions for student models to volunteer for the event and picked 15 girls.
There was a range of modeling experience. Sophomore Lindsey O’Dell has done professional modeling in New York and Chicago.
“It was a really cool experience,” O’Dell said. “It was a smaller show, but it was really smooth. Everyone was really devoted to what they were doing and there was a lot of high energy.”
Although O’Dell has modeled in big cities, this was freshman Nicole Lunger’s first time modeling.
“I thought it would be fun to try something new,” Lunger said. “The day of the fashion show was really fun, because we got our hair and make up done. We felt like real models.”
Along with student models and Her Campus, volunteers helped make the show possible.
Freshman Jenelle Pfeifer volunteered to get more involved with Her Campus.
“I wanted to check it out and see what it’s all about,” Pfeifer said. “I think it went really well. It was relaxed and a great way to spend a Thursday night.”
When the show was over, the night continued at Vault for an after party.
“It was great, because it matched the classy and chic atmosphere we were hoping to get,” Aritzmendi said.
Also after the show, Her Campus members sold custom hairpieces. Freshmen Katie Niemiec and Margaret Cleveland have been designing and selling their own hairpieces since the beginning of second semester.
“We found the idea online, so we were just messing around with the fabric we had one day,”Niemiec said. “Since we started getting good at it, we decided to sell them.”
Niemiec also helped plan the fashion show, along with modeling in the show.
“I think the show went great,” Niemiec said. “It was sold out, which was really cool, and it was fun to be a part of it and meet all the other girls.”
This event is something Her Campus hopes to continue in future years.
“I meet a lot of really cool people all interested in different parts of fashion,” O’Dell said. “Overall, it was a very cool experience.”
