
Alpha Delta Pi, Lambda Chi Alpha and Delta Sigma Phi were announced first place overall winners in Greek Week 2011 on Monday evening on the steps of Jesse Hall.
“I’m really excited (about the win),” Alpha Delta Pi sophomore Erin Dismeier said.
All Greek pairings that participated in Greek Week competed in a blood drive, sports competition, service challenge and Fling.
Alpha Delta Pi freshman Kelsie Yakel said the win took a lot of teamwork.
“We came together for sports and for spirit,” Alpha Delta Pi freshman Kayleen Archambault said. “It’s not all just pomping and painting.”
The winning pair also took first place in the overall service competition and third place overall in fling.
“Greek Week is really a group effort,” Alpha Delta Pi freshman Ashley Arp said. “It feels amazing to win overall two years in a row.”
The overall winners for the blood drive competition that yielded 1,719 units of blood were Delta Gamma, Delta Tau Delta, Theta Chi and National Pan-Hellenic Council for first place and Chi Omega and Delta Upsilon for second place. Third place was a tie between the pairings of Kappa Kappa Gamma and Beta Theta Pi and Zeta Tau Alpha, Alpha Gamma Rho and Tau Kappa Epsilon.
The top three overall winners for Fling included Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Epsilon Pi and Sigma Nu in first; Gamma Phi Beta, Pi Kappa Phi and Beta Sigma Psi in second; and Alpha Delta Pi, Lambda Chi Alpha and Delta Sigma Phi in third.
The top three overall winners for Greek Week were Delta Gamma, Delta Tau Delta, Theta Chi and NPHC in third place, Chi Omega and Delta Upsilon took second, while Alpha Delta Pi, Lambda Chi Alpha and Delta Sigma Phi held onto first.
“It feels really good to win overall,” Lambda Chi Alpha junior Ryan Hogan said. “We worked really hard and came together for this.”
