**2. Suspect strikes officer at traffic stop**
Trinidad Garcia-Maldonado was arrested at 2:08 a.m. Tuesday when he was pulled over by an officer while driving north on Garth Avenue, Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said in an email.
When Garcia-Maldonado stopped his car, he got out and began walking toward the officer, Stroer said. The officer directed him to stop, but Garcia-Maldonado continued approaching. The officer continued telling him to stop, and when he was in reach, the officer grabbed him, but Garcia-Maldonado pulled away and proceeded to strike the officer with a closed fist to the chest. He was arrested for illegal entry, second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

Officers were dispatched to a burglary in progress at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at 3500 Mexico Gravel Road, after two suspects forced entry into a house, Stroer said.
The victim reported the two suspects left the area in a rust-colored Chevrolet Impala without license plates. The victim said one of the suspects was wearing a red jacket. Officers found the vehicle at Gerbes, 2900 Paris Road. Stroer said both Fredrick Barney Jr. and Aaron C. Perry were arrested on charges of first-degree burglary. Perry was also charged with receiving stolen property after items found in the car matched the description of items stolen from victims.
**4. Suspect turns himself in after domestic abuse charge**
Dylan Bowen was arrested at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at 2200 Warwick Ave. after a female victim called police reporting Bowen slapped her in the face, Stroer said.
She said she slapped a glass pipe out of Bowen’s hand when he was smoking marijuana from it, and the pipe broke against the sliding glass door. Bowen then grabbed her by the throat and pushed her away from him. She then went into the kitchen to pack her things and gather their child so they could leave the residence. The victim said Bowen refused to let her take the child and was blocking their path. She said he used his forearm against her chest and was pushing her against the sink.
Bowen turned himself into police later that day and was charged with second-degree domestic assault, third-degree domestic assault, second-degree child endangerment, possession of controlled substances and use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
