**Suspect arrested for third DWI violation**
Emmanuel Hernandez, 29, was charged with a felony count of driving while intoxicated after he was pulled over by police early Thursday morning.
Around 2:08 a.m., a Columbia Police Department DWI enforcement officer responded to a report of a drunk driver near the intersection of Highway 63 and Grindstone Parkway.
CPD spokeswoman Jill Wieneke said in an email the suspect’s vehicle was seen driving north on Highway 63 when it swerved and almost struck a pole.
The officer caught up with the vehicle near the intersection of Hanover Blvd. and Clark Lane, where he pulled the suspect over. Hernandez, the driver, admitted he had been drinking. Because he has two prior DWI convictions, the suspect was charged with a felony DWI.
**MU junior runs from officer, found with fake ID**
An MU junior was arrested early Thursday on multiple charges, including theft and resisting arrest.
Junior Michael Hilgeman was arrested at 2:15 a.m. when an MU Police Department officer noticed him walking near the intersection of Matthews Street and University Avenue.
“The officer noticed an individual who looked like he was under 21,” Weimer said. “He appeared to be highly intoxicated.”
Weimer said Hilgeman initially ran from the officer when he was approached.
“He had a fake ID and was riding a bike he had taken from someone,” Weimer said. “He accidentally produced the wrong (ID) at first, then the officer found he had a couple IDs.”
Hilgeman, 19, was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, theft, minor in possession of alcohol by consumption and possession of altered identification.
**Suspect charged with larceny, resisting arrest**
Christy Williams, 30, is charged with felony counts of theft and resisting arrest after an incident Friday afternoon, Wieneke said.
At approximately 3:15 p.m., CPD officers responded to a reported larceny at Menards, located at 3340 Vandiver Drive. The victim told police he left his wallet at the cash register before walking out of the store. He didn’t realize it was gone until he had returned to his vehicle, and when he returned to the store, the wallet was gone.
Wieneke said there is store surveillance video showing a female who matches the suspect’s description take the wallet and place it inside her purse.
Officers located the suspect and asked her to come to the police station for questioning. The officers then placed the victim under arrest, prompting her to physically resist the action. Williams was then charged with the two counts listed above.
**Facebook posts lead to arrest involving baseball bat**
An MU freshman and an Illinois resident were arrested Saturday afternoon after arriving at another student’s home with a baseball bat.
Weimer said freshman Dominic Orsini was carrying the bat when he arrived at the victim’s College Avenue residence at about 1:15 p.m. Saturday.
“One individual had posted things about the other on Twitter and Facebook,” Weimer said. “The posts were disrespectful. That’s why the individuals went to the victim’s residence.”
The victim was not struck with the bat nor injured.
Orsini, 19, was arrested on suspicion of armed criminal action and second-degree assault. Dexter Celestin, 20, of Normal, Illinois was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault.
**Suspect tampers with machinery, flees on foot**
Daniel Scott, 22, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree tampering and a felony charge of resisting arrest early Saturday morning.
At 1:22 a.m. CPD officers on patrol downtown near the intersection of Broadway and Tenth Street received word of a white male who had climbed some scaffolding.
The officers located Scott operating a construction lift 20 feet off the ground.
Wieneke said the suspect appeared to be intoxicated as he was holding up a cup and yelling.
Scott reportedly lowered the lift and jumped out when he saw police coming. He began running on foot until the officers apprehended and arrested him near the intersection of Ninth Street and Locust.
