The Boone County Sheriff’s Department served search warrants Thursday on two residences, resulting in four arrests, a news release stated.
Numerous reports of stolen items, their value totaling about $5,000, were made to the sheriff’s department early Thursday morning. Stolen items include a flat-screen TV, debit cards and office and computer equipment.
The burglary occurred sometime between 5:45 p.m. Wednesday evening and 7:45 a.m. Thursday morning, Detective Tom O’Sullivan said.
Detectives were able to track down one female suspect through a stolen debit card she had been using through record of the multiple transactions she tried to perform along with her image on surveillance footage.
Two women, Angela K. Clayton and Kelsey C. Skouby, both 22, were arrested in their home at the 4000 block of East St. Charles Road on suspicion of receiving stolen property, felony endangering the welfare of a child and the distribution of a controlled substance. Clayton was also charged with four counts of forgery.
Nathan A. Clayton, 21, and James L. Walters, 46, also were arrested on misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after being located in a neighboring residence. They were both held on $1,000 bond.
After getting the appropriate search warrants, police searched the residences and also found large amounts of marijuana, O’Sullivan said. The drugs found were feet away from the crib of an 18-month-old child in the bedroom of the suspect, leading to additional charges of endangering the welfare of a child.
Detectives were able to recover most of the stolen items.
“We’re happy we were able to recover the property in a short amount of time,” O’Sullivan said. “We aren’t always that lucky.”
