1. Business check at Bengal’s Bar and Grill leads to multiple arrests
Police conducted an open business check at Bengal’s Bar and Grill, where they arrested multiple minors in possession of alcohol.
Columbia Police Department conducted the check at 227 S. Sixth St. on Friday at 10:21 p.m. Many in the bar appeared under the age of 21 and were holding alcohol, according to a police report.
Police asked them for identification. Julia L. Potts was issued a summons on charges of minor in possession of alcohol. Leah Michelle Norman was arrested on charges of minor in possession of alcohol. Emily Rose Kissee, Emily Bumpus and Eric Savio were arrested on charges of minor in possession of alcohol and possession of someone else’s identification. Madison J. Blake was arrested on charges of minor in consumption and possession of identification of another.
2: Police respond to students throwing rocks at cars
Police responded Friday to a report of five people throwing rocks at cars driving along Rollins Street, according to an MU Police Department report.
Officers arrived at 11:08 p.m. to find Andrew McKerrow, 18, urinating next the street. He was arrested on charges of public nuisance. Officers also arrested Luke Westrich, 18, on charges of minor in possession of alcohol.
“There were others there,” Capt. Scott Richardson said, “but those two were the only ones observed breaking the law.”
3: Suspects urinate in public, one escapes from police
Police observed two men urinating in public Saturday at 1:08 a.m. on the corner of S. William Street and Wilson Avenue, according to an MU Police Department report.
“Both men took off running,” Capt. Scott Richardson said.
Officers caught up to one of them, Ryan Fleming, 21, when he ran into a corner and couldn’t escape. He was charged with public nuisance and resisting arrest.
“The other one got away,” Richardson said.
4: Drunk man wanders back into football game after being ejected
Austin Alonzo, 21, was ejected from Memorial Stadium during Saturday’s football game, appearing to be extremely intoxicated, Capt. Scott Richardson said.
Officials at the game issued Alonzo a trespassing warning as they escorted him out. “He was told not to come back,” Richardson said.
When he came back at 6:48 p.m., officers arrested him on charges of first-degree trespassing.
5. Police enforce alcohol possession, make arrests
While performing alcohol enforcement in the area of Kentucky and Curtis boulevards Saturday evening, officers stopped multiple people who appeared to be under the age of 21 and in possession of alcohol, according to a CPD police report.
Brian Paul Walser, Andre J. Muir and Aric Deutsch were arrested on charges of minors in possession of alcohol. Teofilo U. Garcia was arrested on charges of minor in possession of intoxicants. Benjamin Vangorp was arrested on charges of minor in possession of intoxicants and possession of less than 35 grams of marijuana. Shane Wormuth and Kylie Jo Mather were arrested on charges of minor in possession of alcohol and possession of another’s ID. Anthony Nicholas Tate was arrested on charges of minor in possession of alcohol and possession of false identification.
6: Complaint in Jones Hall leads to marijuana, alcohol arrests
Police responded at 10:07 p.m. Saturday to a report of narcotics in Jones Residence Hall.
“There was a complaint from the Res Life coordinator that there was a smell coming from the room,” Capt. Scott Richardson said.
Officers entered the room of Connor Faron, 18, and Theodore Hammers, 19. Faron was charged with possession of marijuana paraphernalia and less than 35 grams of marijuana. Hammers was charged with possession of marijuana paraphernalia and a fake ID. Alexis Tetrault, 18, who was also in the room, was charged with minor in possession of alcohol.
