**1. Police pull over drunk driver, find marijuana**
MU police pulled over Jaide Rose at 2:41 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of South Providence Road and Rollins Street.
“The original stop was for speeding and failing to signal before changing lanes,” MU Police Department Capt. Brian Weimer said. “The car was further observed on the center line.”
Officers determined Rose, 21, was driving under the influence of alcohol. Officers also found marijuana while they searched his car for intoxicants.
Rose was arrested on charges of speeding, possession of marijuana and driving while intoxicated.
**2. Suspect fails to stop for police, found with marijuana**
Devon Andrew Hicks, 18, was arrested at 8:58 p.m. Friday after an officer apprehended him when he failed to stop at a posted sign at the intersection of Southampton Drive and Bethel Street, according to reports from the Columbia Police Department.
When the officer turned his vehicle around to stop Hicks after his failed stop, Hicks accelerated the car and failed to yield to the officer’s lights and sirens. When Hicks finally did stop the car, he jumped out and ran into an apartment.
Soon after, he left the apartment and a K9 unit caught up with him. Officers found 35 grams of marijuana, numerous clear plastic bags and digital scales. Hicks was charged with distribution of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, operating a motor vehicle without a license and failure to stop at a posted sign.
**3. Driver runs light with marijuana in car**
MU police pulled over Jeffrey Byrd at 12:03 a.m. Saturday on Quarry Park Drive after he ran a red light.
Byrd, 22, was driving someone else’s car and was not able to prove it was insured. He was also driving on a suspended license.
“His license was revoked for points,” Weimer said.
Upon further investigation, officers found marijuana in the car.
Byrd was arrested on charges of running a red light, operating a vehicle belonging to someone else without maintaining financial responsibility, driving on a suspended license and possession of marijuana.
**4. Suspect vandalizes home of son’s mother, slashes victim’s tires**
A domestic dispute Saturday afternoon ended in vandalized furniture and slashed car tires in northern Columbia.
Avery Yate Nelson, 21, was arrested 3 p.m. Saturday at Derby Ridge and Smiley Lane, according to a Columbia Police Department police report.
He was arguing verbally with a female victim, with whom he lives and has a child. Nelson reportedly slashed the victim’s vehicle’s tires and destroyed the furniture in the home during the argument.
The event happened at the 1400 block of Avatar Court.
The female victim feared for her safety when Nelson began throwing the furniture in their residence. She left from an upstairs window to the neighboring duplex. Nelson was charged with third-degree domestic assault and second-degree property damage.
**5. Driver tells police he has marijuana**
MU police pulled over Spencer Hill at 11:51 p.m. Saturday for speeding on Stadium Boulevard, near Highway 63.
“Officers had a conversation with the individual, and he admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle,” MU Police Department Capt. Brian Weimer said.
Hill, 22, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana.
