1. Five arrested on charges of prostitution
Five women were arrested on suspicion of prostitution after an undercover Columbia Police Department officer contacted the women through online advertisements.
The officer contacted the females after obtaining their numbers from online advertisements, and all five agreed to provide services for a price.
Between 5:06 and 8:38 p.m., the five suspects entered the residence, and four of the five suspects brought condoms.
Columbia police arrested LaShanda Marine, 20; Cieara Ponder, 20; Natalie Stepney, 21; Winter Thomas, 25; and Rebecca Wright, 40, Friday on suspicion of prostitution at the 1400 block of Sylvan Lane, according to a Columbia Police report.
Stepney was also arrested for a felony warrant on suspicion of forgery and a misdemeanor warrant for suspected third-degree assault, Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said.
2. Police make marijuana arrest in College Avenue
MU police officers were dispatched at 11:54 p.m. Friday to College Avenue Residence Hall at 1300 E. Rollins St.
“Officers were called for a narcotics violation,” MUPD Capt. Brian Weimer said.
Officers traced the smell of narcotics to Samuel Dicke’s room, where they found marijuana and alcohol.
Dicke, 19, was arrested on suspicion of possession of alcohol by a minor, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
UPDATE: He served a suspended imposition of sentence.
3. Minor drinking alcohol outside caught with fake I.D.
An MU police officer on routine patrol at 10:48 p.m. Friday observed a possible liquor violation at the intersection of South William Street and University Avenue.
“(The) officer observed the subject holding a can of Miller Light,” Weimer said.
The officer arrested Ryan Lommel, 20, on suspicion of possession of alcohol by a minor. While arresting him, the officer discovered Lommel also had a fake I.D. and arrested him for possession of false identification.
4. Two suspects arrested after assault in The Blue Note
Columbia Police Department officers responded to a trespass call at 12:20 a.m. at The Blue Note on Ninth Street. After arriving, officers saw the suspects being detained by employees.
Corey Sapp, 23, and Kyle Smarr were arrested early Saturday morning in downtown Columbia. Sapp was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault, Smarr was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace and both were arrested for first-degree trespassing.
When an employee forcefully removed the two suspects from the venue, Sapp flipped his cigarette and hit the victim in the mouth and under the glasses, and Smarr punched another employee multiple times in the back, Stroer said.
5. Two caught sneaking into MU power plant
MU Police officers were dispatched at 1:20 a.m. Sunday to the power plant on South Fifth Street to investigate a possible trespassing.
“Power plant personnel reported seeing two men entering the coal truck loading gate,” Weimer said.
Daniel Weber, 20, and Gary Fuchs, 19, were arrested on suspicion of first-degree trespassing.
