1. Squatter arrested at Campus View
A man was arrested on multiple charges Monday night after police officers found him living in a Campus View apartment without a lease.
MU Police Department Capt. Brian Weimer said MUPD officers were called to 301 Campusview Drive, and found Justin Gibbs, 22, living in one of the apartments.
“He received a trespassing charge for living in an apartment without leasing it,” Weimer said. “He was also in possession of a roach.”
Gibbs was arrested on suspicion of first-degree trespassing, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia for amphetamines/methamphetamines and a misdemeanor warrant.
2. Peeping Tom arrested on charges of trespassing
A 20-year-old male was arrested early Tuesday morning after he was allegedly caught looking in the windows of a sorority.
Columbia Police Department officers were dispatched to the Delta Delta Delta annex at 500 Burnam Avenue at 12:19 a.m., where they located Andrew Keys. Keys tried to avoid the officers and took off running when they asked him to stop. They noticed that he was visibly intoxicated, and also found two false IDs on his person.
Keys was arrested on charges of resisting arrest, minor in possession of alcohol by consumption and two counts each of second-degree trespassing and possessing reproduced identification.
3. Three arrested in Johnston Hall
Three St. Charles men were arrested Tuesday night in Johnston Hall, 1100 Rollins St., on suspicion of trespassing.
“There were three males in a room in Johnston that had earlier been told to leave, but they were still there,” Weimer said. “One of the individuals received a charge for being a minor visibly intoxicated.”
Joshua Mancel, 18, and Daniel Keller, 19, were arrested on suspicion of first-degree trespassing. Brian Stoverink, 19, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree trespassing and minor in possession of intoxicants.
4. Woman arrested after allegedly knifing relative
A woman was arrested Wednesday night on charges of domestic assault. CPD officers were dispatched to the area of 2000 W. Business Loop at 11:17 p.m. in response to a disturbance in the area. A male victim told the officers that Edsheba Burnes, 23, a relative of his with whom he lived, had attacked him with a knife during an argument. The victim sustained a laceration underneath his left eye that continued to the bridge of his nose. He was later taken to the hospital for treatment. Burnes was arrested on charges of armed criminal action and second-degree domestic assault.
5. One arrested after knife fight in Hitt Street Parking Garage
MUPD arrested a 27-year-old man on multiple charges after a knife fight Wednesday in Hitt Street Parking Garage, located at the corner of Hitt and Elm streets.
“Two individuals got into a fight in Hitt Street Garage,” Weimer said. “One cut the other with a box knife and both fled the scene.”
Weimer said witnesses called MUPD.
“With the help of the city, we located both and arrested them,” Weimer said. “The victim suffered superficial lacerations.”
Jeremiah Coleman, 27, was arrested on suspicion of unlawful use of a weapon, resisting arrest and second-degree assault.
