To the Editor,
I am sometimes embarrassed by our university’s newspaper. On more than one occasion, I have been reading a story to find it abruptly ends with no visible conclusion because of space. Additionally, in Tuesday’s paper, there was a quote in the “Stay safe on snowy streets” that read “Look around the area that your car is in a pick up the snow beforehand.” This makes no sense but I assume the “a” is supposed to be “and.” There was also an error in the article about bird chirping sounds. The word “combing” is supposed to be “combining.” I would just like to see more careful editing when it comes to what is put in the paper. As a former yearbook staff member, I know how when reading the same thing over and over you miss some things, but you also have to be conscious of that and look for the errors your brain may just correct without noticing. I do enjoy that paper and don’t want it to go away, but I would just like to see fewer errors, especially those that can and should be avoided.
