1. One charged with possession of marijuana in baked goods
Columbia Police Department officers arrested a woman Wednesday at 2:51 a.m. after receiving a call about an assault near the 2400 block of Range Line Street. Deborah Dooley, 25, punched a male victim during an argument at a bar, CPD spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said. When the officers arrested her, they found 10 cookies containing marijuana and 17 brownies with psilocybin mushrooms in them. Dooley was arrested on suspicion of distribution/delivery/manufacture/production of a controlled substance and third-degree assault.
2. Police arrest two on marijuana charges
At 1 p.m. Tuesday, an officer traveling north on Sixth Street near Locust Street noticed a vehicle with windows that were overly tinted. When he stopped the vehicle, he noticed marijuana sitting on the center console in plain sight, according to a police report. The officer arrested the driver, Alex White, 18, on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and vision reducing material applied to windshield. The car’s passenger, MU student Alex Thornton, 18, was arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and 35 grams or less of marijuana.
3. Man charged with threatening to kill woman
At 12:32 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to an assault report near the 1800 block of McKee Street. According to CPD spokeswoman Latisha Stroer, Jaquan Bailey, 22, threatened to kill the female victim, with whom he lives, and then acted as if he was going to throw a brick through the window of her car. When she attempted to drive out of the garage, Bailey repeatedly closed the garage door, trapping her inside. Bailey was arrested on suspicion of third-degree domestic assault, false imprisonment and second-degree property damage.
4. Seven arrested in citywide drug bust
The CPD Patrol Bureau, Vice/Narcotics/Organized Crime Unit, Criminal Investigations Division and Forensic Evidence Team, with the help of the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and U.S. Postal Inspectors, engaged in a Columbia-wide drug bust at approximately 3 p.m. Monday. Four search warrants were served and the police conducted four traffic stops, which resulted in seven arrests, according to a police report. Thirty pounds of marijuana, packaging materials, scales, cash and a firearm were seized from the bust, and searches were conducted at the 500 block of North Providence, the 600 block of Seventh Street, the 1600 block of High Quest Circle and the 1400 block of Stone Street. Eric Barry, 28, Zachary Hare, 23, David Sobelman, 19, Evelyn Dunkin, 18, John Renfro, 24, Soeum Lem, 25 and Michael Neubauer, 27, were arrested on suspicion of distribution of controlled substances. Further charges and arrests might be made as the investigation progresses, according to the report.
