1) One arrested on charges of domestic assault
CPD officers were dispatched at 12:53 a.m. Monday to an assault at the 4300 block of Jeana Court. Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said a female victim was making a phone call outside of her residence while Anthony Pratt III, 27, was drinking alcohol inside. The victim said Pratt then came out of the residence, grabbed her by the arms and threw her to the ground. He then dragged her into the house despite her attempts to run away, ripping her jacket and breaking the screen of her phone in the process. Pratt was arrested on suspicion of third-degree domestic assault, false imprisonment and second-degree property damage.
2) Three MU students charged as nuisances
A caller complaining about overly loud music sent CPD officers to the 500 block of High Street at about 11 p.m. Monday. When the officer arrived in the area, he noticed loud music and talking coming from the residence of Sara Willis, Kelsie Rook and Taylor Davis, all 21. The officer arrested them on suspicion of nuisance parties, according to a police report.
3) Sophomore arrested on charges of marijuana possession
A CPD officer on patrol at 12:38 a.m. Tuesday was alerted to a residence at the 5100 block of Commercial Drive, where he heard loud party music. The officer contacted the owner of the house about the noise, noticed the odor of marijuana and saw it in plain view inside, according to a police report. The resident, MU sophomore Timothy Johnson, 20, was arrested on suspicion of possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
4) One arrested on drug trafficking charges
A CPD officer assisting the Boone County Sheriff’s Department operate a security checkpoint near the 1300 block of Prathersville arrested a man Wednesday night at 11:12 p.m. on drug trafficking charges. Jonmel Davis, 34, pulled up to the checkpoint but then turned around in an attempt to avoid the police officers. The officers stopped Davis and detected a strong odor of marijuana in the car, finding three bags of the drug after a quick search, CPD spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said. Davis was arrested on suspicion of distribution/delivery/manufacture/production of controlled substances and operating a motor vehicle with license suspended or revoked.
