1. Freshman charged with marijuana possession
An MU Police Department officer was on patrol near the area of the Hearnes Center on Stadium on Thursday night when he observed what appeared to be a person smoking in a car in one of the parking lots at 11:08 p.m.
The officer approached the car and detected the odor of marijuana. On making contact with the occupant of the vehicle, freshman Patrick Shami, 19, the officer found an object used in the consumption of the drug marijuana. Shami was arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, MUPD Capt. Brian Weimer said.
2. Man breaks into football field
At 2:28 a.m. Saturday, a police officer patrolling the area of 1100 S. Providence saw a man attempting to break into the football field on the corner of Providence and Stadium Boulevard.
The officer confronted the trespasser, 19-year-old Joseph Duncan, and noticed that he seemed to be drunk, according to a police report.
Duncan attempted to flee but was arrested by the officer. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree trespassing, possession of false identification, possession of alcohol as a minor, resisting arrest, possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
3. Man at fraternity party charged with property damage
**UPDATE: Charges were dropped.**
At 12:02 a.m. Sunday, MUPD officers were made aware of a disturbance in the area of 900 Curtis Avenue.
According to a police report, freshman and Pi Kappa Phi member Dylon Sacco, 19, became agitated at a party and threw his cell phone in the parking lot, hitting a car and causing some damage. The police determined Sacco to be intoxicated at the time. Sacco was arrested on suspicion of second-degree property damage and possession of alcohol by a minor.
4. MUPD officer arrest one on charges of alcohol possession
An officer patrolling at 12:50 p.m. Sunday near the 400 block of Kentucky Boulevard arrested a freshman after finding her to be in possession of alcohol. He witnessed Kierra Wright, 19, walking from Lathrop Hall to South Hall in an intoxicated manner. When the officer went to investigate, Wright began running.
Wright was arrested on suspicion of possession of alcohol by a minor.
5. Residents running up and down staircase leads to marijuana discovery
A peace disturbance was called in at 11:05 p.m. Sunday at the 300 block of Tiger Lane in reference to a complaint that neighbors were yelling and running up and down the staircase, according to Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Stephanie Drouin.
Gary Bilyeu, 21, and Dakota McCluskey, 20, were in the residence when officers arrived. The officers saw marijuana paraphernalia in plain sight in the home. Both Bilyeu and McCluskey were arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and peace disturbance, according to the police report. Both were released on a summons.
