The Columbia Police Department is still looking for the person who robbed a bank downtown Monday morning.
Officers were dispatched at 9:35 a.m. to Boone County National Bank, located at 203 E. Walnut St., in response to a police alarm, according to a news release. Upon arrival, they upgraded the alarm to a robbery.
“We don’t validate (the alarm) until we get there because a lot of times (the emergency button is pressed) accidentally,” CPD spokeswoman Stephanie Drouin said.
A male entered the bank and verbally demanded money, according to the news release. He left the bank on foot, with an undisclosed amount of money, and headed northbound on Providence Road.
The male did not display a weapon and no one was injured.
Drouin said the investigation unit is still working on finding the suspect. No arrests have been made.
