1. CPD arrests man on burglary, weapons charges
Dennis C. Whitehead was arrested at 9:23 p.m. Thursday after the Columbia Police Department was notified of a burglary at the 2900 block of Northland Drive. A witness observed four males forcibly enter a residence and said they were in the home for a small amount of time before leaving and getting in a white vehicle, which fled northbound on Northland Drive. Officers in the area found the vehicle at the 3300 block of James Dale Road. Whitehead was identified as the suspect who broke into the residence at Northland. He was arrested and charged for this incident and others in the area, according to police reports. Whitehead was charged with second-degree burglary, two felony counts of receiving stolen property, two counts of unlawful possession of a concealed weapon and second-degree burglary.
2. Freshman arrested on fake ID charges
At 9:55 p.m. Friday, an MUPD officer patrolling near the intersection of College Avenue and Stadium Boulevard witnessed a speeding vehicle. The officer stopped the driver, freshman Austin Burger, 19, and asked to search the vehicle. Burger consented, and the officer found a fake ID underneath the driver’s seat, MUPD spokesman Brian Weimer said. Burger was charged with speeding and possession of false identification.
3. MUPD charges man with possession of alcohol by a minor
At 11:54 p.m. Friday, an MUPD officer patrolling the area of South College Avenue and Rosemary Lane observed a man walking down the street with what appeared to be an alcoholic beverage in his hand. The officer stopped Ryan Whiston, 19, who was carrying a can of Bud Light, according to a police report. Whiston was charged with purchase or possession of alcohol by a minor.
4. Freshman charged with invasion of privacy in residence hall
At 9:22 p.m. Saturday, MUPD received a call from Excellence Hall concerning an invasion of privacy. A female victim told the officers her roommate’s boyfriend, freshman Aaron M. Baker, 19, had secretly set up a camera in the bathroom she and her roommate share with another room, and he intended to film her while she was showering. Upon discovering the device, the victim notified the authorities, who contacted Baker and arrested him on charges of invasion of privacy.
