Well, it’s been quite a year. Jessica Simpson finally finished her 25-month pregnancy, the use of Internet memes hit an all-time low, and I was lucky enough to give my thoughts on the world of pop culture for the entire school year.
It was truly an honor to be able to share my snarkiness and sarcasm with my fellow students. Also, my alliteration attributed to an amazing aura of awesomeness.
Some truly great things happened this year. Here’s my list of the top 10 best things that happened in the world of pop culture thus far in 2012:
1. The official announcement of the return of _Arrested Development_ — The show will be premiering in 2013 on Netflix, and get this: all 10 episodes will be available on the same day. Needless to say, marathon sessions will take place all around the country.
2. Snooki’s pregnancy — Sure, it may be a sign of the apocalypse, but imagining a reality show featuring Snooki attempting to raise a child sounds like the greatest thing in the history of things.
3. Barack Obama slow jams the news —Yeah, that happened.
4. Joseph Gordon-Levitt playing Seymour in a remake of _Little Shop of Horrors_ — Get Emma Stone as Audrey and Jon Hamm as Orin and we’ve got ourselves a classic.
5. _The Avengers_ and _Cabin in the Woods_ — Joss Whedon is finally taking over the world of cinema, and geeks everywhere couldn’t be happier.
6. One Direction — There’s not a single person who couldn’t love them. Please try and disagree. I will argue them to the death.
7. “Call Me Maybe” — The original song is one of the catchiest pop songs in years, but the fan-made videos by Selena Gomez, James Franco and Katy Perry are the icing on the cake.
8. _Happy Endings_ — The downright funniest sitcom on TV right now. It’s simply ah-mahzing.
9. The rise of Channing Tatum as a brilliantly funny actor — If you haven’t seen _21 Jump Street_ yet, do yourself a favor and watch it ASAP. The usually wooden Tatum finds his calling as the go-to guy for playing dumb in a hilarious fashion.
10. Me — This year was the dawning of me, David Adams, as a pop culture icon. I’m definitely on my way to becoming a household name.
All in all, it was truly a great year. I won’t be writing a column again next year, but look out for a new blog I plan to start!
